Can I Watch Paint Dry Instead?

List your top 5 grocery store items.

What a thrilling question!

Top five tends to be four boxes of cat food and a few Sheba tubs to ring the changes. I love my cats like children, but it’s not that exciting. In our weekly shop it’s loo roll then cat food first.

There’s a thing about the British, did it happen in other countries during Covid lockdowns? I believe it did in America. Everyone here panic bought toilet rolls. They only allowed two packs in the end. Hence loo rolls first. We have a thing about them.

Apart from that I’m not a foodie. Nor is Tony. So…

2. Biscuits

3. Chocolate

4. Sparkling water

5. Whisky (not mine)

Thrilling.

About as thrilling as the overwhelming amount of food in our huge supermarkets that you can’t take in, and wonder who the heck buys it. Especially the yards and yards of sugary sweeties full of garbage. Dentists’ nightmare.

Anyway…food shopping. Hope there are some answers from people who still buy and cook from fresh.

Walking down the road with mum most days, her wicker basket over her arm, getting fresh food for that day. Butchers, then bakers, then grocers and greengrocers. Everyone knew your name. Dip in the penny tray sometimes, three sweets for a penny. But not every day. Stopping to chat on the way back. Sun on your face, or throwing a snowball that went straight down the back of her neck and made her scream!

Nothing like it.

Suddenly I don’t mind being ‘so last century’ I feel blessed.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
