What technology would you be better off without, why?

We’ve had electric cookers for years and I still prefer gas. I know it’s not environmentally friendly but to me electric just isn’t the same and I can’t put my finger on why. I can tell you that when I have accidentally put my finger on an electric hob it is still hot.
I’ve given up driving our Ford Puma because of the many warning sounds, including a proximity warning for long blades of grass two feet away on the verge 🙄, plus the flashing messages on the screen in front of me, and the shoving me back left when I’ve moved out a little to avoid a pothole so that I have to fight with it to stay on track. I literally can’t concentrate to drive and I’m getting jumpy in the car which is not good.
Yesterday I drove out ten year old mini and discovered to my great relied that I can still concentrate on driving. The Puma drives my husband nuts too, and there is evidence that the safety features are causing accidents because you have to take your eyes off the road to see what’s going on.
They also put sat nav’s down low and there’s evidence they take your eyes away from the road. Peugeot and other manufacturers angle the screen towards the driver, which means you Seth have the road in your peripheral vision if you do need to take a glance.
Honestly, these ‘brilliant’ designers put switches 10” below the top of the dashboard, and they make them nice and smooth and pretty to look at. I experimented when stationery the other day, and I couldn’t pick out the very small button that turns the windscreen heater on. In the time it took me to look down and find it…I don’t like to think, but it’s that or you can’t see anyway.
It did prevent two accidents with its emergency stop, one where someone shot into a car park behind me at high speed, and one where an elderly drive pulled forward at a junction and then braked, even though there was room for me to pull out too. However, the other day someone slowed in front of me, I braked with plenty of room, off went the siren and the emergency stop gave me a horrible jolt.
Frankly I can do without designers with more technological expertise and artistic interpretation than sense!
Bring on self drive cars to save us from the over designed ones.
