Blank Face Here

What are your favorite websites?

I visit many websites. I use a lot of them, but:

I’d rather have good shops again with human connections.

I’d prefer to hold a book in my hands before I buy it, and I buy 90% of them in real shops.

I appreciate being able to keep in touch and make connections on social media, but I’d rather meet you face to face and have a coffee. Even a Zoom call is better than a post.

On balance though I wish social media didn’t exist. There are too many lies, insults, criminals hiding in plain sight, manipulation of elections etc., and personally I think a huge part of the collapse in mental health belongs at their door. How much poison can anyone take in before it starts to destroy them slowly? From age 5 or 6 nowadays?

I’ve come off feeling physically nauseous at times and stunned how much of humanity is not what I thought it was.

Hands up, I’m either an optimist or someone who refuses to focus on anything but the positive so that I don’t get dragged down into the living hell that represents too many minds. Not the majority, but too many, certainly enough to be a slow poison in our society.

You might say ditto the internet which has allowed far too much bad to develop, especially disinformation. I know it’s also a useful tracking tool though to catch bad people, and has any number of fantastic uses, but on balance it’s questionable.

On line has definitely disconnected us, I’d go so far as to say that literally the only person you can trust now is yourself. Although only when you’re looking in a mirror, even if it’s your image and voice on line, the days are coming when you may not be completely sure it’s not AI. If you’re well known they’re already here.

Life is about balance, it’s rare that anything is either good or bad, we exist in the space in between. Even we are various shades of grey.

In truth I visit many useful and interesting websites, the best cat food is only available on line as far as I know, but love a website?

Better real than virtual.

So my favourite shop is Foyles bookshop in London.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

We’re trying to socialise a tiny kitten to get her to the stage that she can visit the rest of the house without scaring things ten times her size.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx

      1. Oh, cute mimsy. Wait for the summer, and then you can just run outside, mimsy. For now, just enjoy watching the view outside from the glass window.

      2. We have two males dogs and two male cats. We have chickens that I called darlings, and we have goats that my eldest treat as her babies. I’m so grateful I have them, too, making it a big family.
