One of the problems with our society is that we’re taught to see people as ‘other’. When in fact if you could look below the skin you would see exactly the same components.
Over the centuries we have divided ourselves by race, religion, colour, creed, and now gender. These divisions are so many centuries old we don’t even know who the first morons were who pointed to themselves and said ‘good’ and to someone else and said ‘not good’.
We don’t know who decided that a god you can’t see or talk to is better than another god that you can’t see or talk to. I know that religious people feel that they can talk to god, and I understand that with my heart, but you get the point. We apply a lot of layers to something whose words have all been translated by man. God is the ultimate in AI, a mixture of different voices creating a being.
The thing that worries me about gods is how often they’re supposed to fully agree with the people who think you’re wrong. Is a god that petty? And would you want to meet someone who drew those kinds of comparisons? I don’t think I would. But then they’re not god’s words are they, they were interpreted by man.
Until we move from other-hood to the family of humanity, we are not only going to have these divisions, but too many of us are going to continue to judge by those appalling standards. Standards my mind can’t put in the same arena as divinity. They just don’t fit. A judgemental god is an oxymoron of the highest order. Truly two words that don’t fit in the same sentence.
How about we try to find reasons why we’re similar rather than different and see what happens? I’m sure it would be better than we have right now.
