Just One

Who are your favorite artists?

God/creation/nature.

Whichever way you look at it this world is a work of art.

Theoretical physicist and mathematician, Frank Wilczek, argued that beauty is the fundamental motive behind the universe, and that if there is a creator they are an artist. His book “A Beautiful Question” is worth reading.

Yet we destroy it and we don’t even care. Companies know that we use too much plastic. They know that a lot of recycling is a myth. They know that there is a huge plastic island in the Pacific. They know it’s killing wildlife and destroying our ecosystem. They know microplastics are dangerous. Yet still they use it.

Still we accept the use of it. The truth is out there.

This is a million times worse than setting light to an old masterpiece. Yet shock would reverberate around the world if someone took an axe to Whistler’s Mother, or destroyed the Mona Lisa. So how can we destroy the world so thoughtlessly and uncaringly in the name of a progress that’s actually destroying us?

Imagine the pile of non-rotting garbage we will leave behind as a testament to who and what we were. Selfish and stupid.

We only get up to 100 years or so on this planet, if we’re extraordinarily lucky, haven’t we worked out yet that it’s on loan, we don’t own it?

However, right now we can still enjoy this wonderful work of art, and maybe think about it a bit more. Especially the natural world.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
