Why?

Why do I keep fighting back?
Using this puny voice in a world gone mad.
Saying good things over and over again
to a world so damaged that the existence
of goodness has become hard to credit.

Believers believe despite all evidence
to the contrary.
We also believe and we know
that our evidence is worth believing in.
Innocents and animals deserve safety and care.
A difference in gender, race, colour, or appearance,
is not a capital offence.

Yet we are called weak
because our beliefs don't lie in violence,
we do not see it as strength.

We are not weak
We have strong hearts,
and a sincere belief in
respect for all living things.

We know that someone must believe,
and be prepared to stand up
and counter the violent messages.
To be heard no matter what.
To be insulted for your softness,
called liberal snowflakes,
the woke!
And still go on.

Yes we are awake.
We recognise the sanctity of all life.
We understand that we are the human race,
not a specialist subset thereof.
We know that skin colour, race, gender,
makes you neither better nor different,
you're simply a variety of the same race.

We know that no country deserves
to rule the world.
To invade the happiness and life of another.
We know that murder, rape, incest, abuse,
all violence towards any living thing,
is unacceptable.
We cannot understand the 'reasons'
the violent have for thinking they're right.
They do not compute.

No one and nothing is more important
than the right to life.
No country is the best.
No colour is the best.
No gender is the best.
The best is only what we make it,
and many of our race are far from the best,
no matter what excuse they hide behind.

No King, no president, no prime minister,
no religious leader,
has the right to deny life to any living thing.
No one is 'good enough' to be that person.

The innocents
the children
the elderly
the women
the LGBTQI
the animals, fish, insects, birds
are all my why.

And that is why
I don't shut up.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
