How often do you walk or run?
I live in a perfectly beautiful part of the country, but sadly it’s very flat and the walks in my particular locality are boring. Flat paths, same trees, backs of houses. You have to drive about 30 minutes to find a decent hill, the kind that we had in Glastonbury.
When we moved we forgot how much we dislike living anywhere flat, our bad, can’t blame the area.
However, that distance away the walks are stunning, so I just have to wait for the weekends.
In Glasto I walked most days. The high street was fascinating, scenery beautiful, a real unique personality. When you look at Glasto it really is the aisle of Avalon. During the very sad Somerset floods we had swans at the bottom of the road. We heard the roar of the river breaking its banks.
We stood on top of the Tor and Tony said “I don’t recognise that part of the river.” “It’s the road we walk on down to the river.”
It was epic, upsetting for those on the Levels and therefore everyone, but impressive, wild, and real. I miss it.
However, the town I live in is a genius of planning, all dual carriage ways in our area, and no one is much more than ten minutes from the town centre, which is very decent and handy. Pity Debenhams closed though.
The facilities are excellent. We have a cinema and a lovely little theatre. The usual coffee shops and some independents. It’s really very nice.
Like all things, swings and roundabouts, loads of roundabouts, but I just miss the hills and the scenery.
This is five minutes away though, Arrow Valley Lakes, lots for children to do. If you’re within striking distance of Redditch in the West Midlands it’s worth a visit, coffee and food excellent.

Happy day
