Cats

What brings a tear of joy to your eye?

Or laughter

This is the most relaxed cat in the world. Nero came here to be a) in charge and b) spoiled. That was clear from day one.

Miss Jo-Jo may have been an elderly lady of 18 when they arrived, but she put a complete stop to the ‘in charge’ idea instantly. However, she was unphased by the arrival of the two monkey boys and took them under her wing immediately.

Marcus – So sweet he cuddles the plants

When we lost her…

Miss Amie, still a kitten herself at 12 stepped elegantly into Jo-Jo’s paw steps and maintained order, as gently and kindly as her sister. Apart from the fact that we bought them one of these each but apparently they were all hers!

We wondered what would happen when Amie nipped back to Spirit, that’s my lighthearted way of describing pure agony. We had never had a male senior cat, but Hito has been a magnificent older brother since the day the boys arrived. He looks like a big bruiser but is the gentlest soul who still hides from the doorbell and vacuum cleaner.

All 12 cats so far have been different. All 12 have been loved. For the laughter they bring, the joy they bring, and the memories they leave to remind you that you’re the luckiest person in the world.

I’m sure that animal lovers reading this will know that feeling. Behind the pain of loss, quietly and gently all the laughter and joy returns.

They’ve brought me many more years of laughter and joy than anything else in my life. Which is why I know that God is a genius who knew how to send the perfect antidote to humanity. Pets.

Sweet Sunday

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
