When you look at a person or situation you see from your own perspective. A perspective that may be skewed by your upbringing, friends, family, or life experience.
Nowadays of course you may be being misled on social media. Other countries posting false information to destabilise societies. Interest groups posting fake news to make their point or mix it up a bit.
You may think you’re in control and know what you’re doing, but the complete opposite is more than likely true. It’s very hard to know.
To some people a person of any different colour is a potential friend, romantic partner, boss, colleague, and so on. Nothing more. To some they are a threat of some kind.
One person, or a thousand people, do not represent an entire race, colour, creed, gender, or religion. As white people we would be stunned if a Christian committed a serious crime, which they do on a regular basis, and people turned against our race. Yet people of colour have to face this on a disgustingly regular basis, as well as insults and attacks.
They don’t belong here? Country borders are arbitrary. The world is made up of landmasses and seas and oceans. There are some natural borders, such as mountains, rivers, or the coast. But they’re just features of nature, they mean nothing when it comes to ownership of the land.
As such every human has a right to live anywhere on this earth. No one owns it. Because we have immigration laws, and nationalities, that has made it less easy to be as free as we ought to be. These things are understandable, but should not lead to violence.
The UK has traditionally been a haven, a refuge, due to our ability to embrace different cultures, something we may have learned during our shocking days as a coloniser. If so it at least brought something good out of something dreadful. We have always been an accepting race. Thus showing we never agreed with the ‘powers’ of the past.
If you don’t believe that, count the marchers
There are over 67 million of us, and nowhere near that on the streets
That includes limited numbers of people of colour fighting back
Ultimately, everyone sees from one specific perspective:.
We see with our hearts and what you see is who you are
Amos
I see people that I don’t want hurt. Who haven’t done anything. Millions of people who are not represented by the actions of one. Whichever religion he was raised in, if any. I see my fellow Britons.
May your God bless you all and keep you safe
