What time do you go to bed and wake up currently?
Going to bed doesn’t equal going to sleep for me, that can occur some time later.
I don’t work so I wake up when I wake up.
I don’t have kids I have to get up and get ready for school. Which is good as I’ve always been a night owl so they would probably have missed at least half an hour of every morning by the time I realised they I was driving in the wrong direction.
For some people a regular bed time and wake up time is important. But for me it’s never made any difference, I’ve never developed a routine.
You might think I had to be disciplined when I was at work, but in truth I was late almost every day. Sounds terrible doesn’t it? I was never late for any of my hobbies.
Two things were in play there that may make this answer useful:
Know thyself
As a night owl I never took on a morning hobby. I did amateur dramatics then martial arts, most of that training was in the evening, then badminton. With hobbies I had a choice.
I also realised years later that I hated my career. None of it was my choice, it was forced on. Then in the recession of the 1970s there was literally no work going, people were holding onto their jobs. By the time that was over I was pigeonholed. Clancy escaped that career at the time. It made so much sense that I didn’t want to go where I was going everyday.
I was never once late for university. Even when a herd of cows stopped in front of me and wouldn’t move, I had wiggle room.
So if you’re always late, think about two things:
1. Do you want to go where you’re going to do what you’re doing?
2. Your body clock.
Be thyself always.
Late Wonderful Wednesday

I love the two questions you posted at the end. Definitely food for thought.

Thank you. Wish I’d known that years ago. I’d be in the right career.
