The Mind Comes First

How do you practice self-care?

We exercise muscles, or some do so I understand 🤣, but we forget to exercise the mind. As we are one single package held together by skin, it’s important that we look after the whole shebang.

By exercising the mind I don’t just mean continuing to give it new information, I mean feeding it things it likes, that make it happy.

Good thoughts are the equivalent of good food.

Boredom is bad for the mind. It’s the equivalent of never leaving your sofa.

If the mind is sluggish then the body will be too. Anyone who exercises will tell you that the mind gets a massive dose of endorphins, the feel good factor, when you exercise. Which obviously means that the mind and body are not separate issues, they’re one whole us.

Protect your mind at all times and all costs. No matter what, don’t be near anything or anyone that affects it for too long. Tolerance is one thing, self-harm is quite another. I know too many good people torn apart by the attitude of others.

If I’d realised this when I was younger I would be living an entirely different life. My levels of tolerance are far too high. I don’t expect others to be perfect but by the same token if you won’t heal yourself you don’t get to harm me.

As a whole, take care of the whole.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
