All of Them

Describe your dream chocolate bar.

The best birthday present ever!

As long as they’re milk chocolate.

I actually had my dream chocolate bar about twenty years ago.

There was a Cadbury Chocolate store near us, and they were selling this enormous bar of chocolate. Each square was 2” across, and as deep. You couldn’t bite into it, as you can probably imagine. It’s about 1 1/2″ thick. Yes I’m the feet and inches generation!

However, to give you a clue. My husband turns up at work to take me for lunch on my birthday. A first (and last), bringing with him the bar of chocolate.

The office went into uproar! He quipped that what made him laugh was the idea of me carrying it home through Bath, and on the train that night. He didn’t get his wish though because when I took hold of it I had to say “Sorry, you’ll have to take it for me, I’ve hurt my back and I can’t carry it!”

Bearing in mind I could still carry my handbag, which at the time was large enough to have the mummified bones of a baby mammoth lost somewhere at the bottom. This will give you an idea how many kilos the bar was. It was at least 2 feet long.

Embarrassingly I didn’t manage to eat it all inside three months. Each square took a couple of nights.

Chocolate is a public service

It also helped a friend in times of trouble. We’d recently been on holiday and visited a beer warehouse as a thank you to hubby. I bought him the biggest bottle of Belgian beer he’d ever seen. It seemed fair.

Sadly our friend lost her aunt and had to go and help the family sort everything out. Her husband was deeply upset, hated letting her go alone, but needed to look after their two toddlers and protect them from an upset they were too young to understand.

So we said – generously – that we would come over and bring one beer and one square of my birthday chocolate bar. He was underwhelmed, but grateful for even such clearly substandard company.

His face when he opened the door was unforgettable.

Chocolate can be a good thing!

P.S. Just realised that it was 21 years ago last Sunday! Wow! I forgot it was my birthday all those days ago. 🤣

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
