I couldn’t resist this adorable puppy, however…
People to avoid at all costs!
One of the things we all need to avoid is the negative talk that permeates every area of our society. Talk that brings you down, unsettles you, makes you anxious, hurts you. That sort of thing. But there’s one particular type of negative trash talk that you must avoid at all costs!
The voice of misery and cynicism
If you tell people that happiness is your main aim in life, be prepared for an ambush by the negative nelly brigade armed, with explanations why happiness isn’t possible in this world!
I wouldn’t argue that this is a tough world with a number of so-called leaders losing their collective minds at the expense of innocents. I wouldn’t question that our societies are subject to more violence than I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. I wouldn’t dream of telling someone of colour, a different gender, that prejudice isn’t a thing, or that we should glide serenely past it with our best game face on.
That’s ridiculous. However, all the above isn’t a reason not to try to be as happy as you can as much as you can. It’s no reason not to have happiness and fulfilment as personal aims, after all we tend to find what we seek and believe in.
You simply can’t place your happiness in the hands of any leader, any parent, any partner, any friend, any boss, you have to keep that power firmly in your own hands no matter what they do.
Get real
No one else is you, no one else lives your life, and no one else can control what you will and won’t accept into your life. You are your thoughts and feelings, and you have the power to control where you focus.
Focus on all the good things: joy; abundance (in all good things); peace of mind; relaxation; positive relationships; a career you enjoy; hobbies that keep you fit in body and mind; living where you’re happy; and aim only for your best possible life.
Those things and that focus are the path to happiness. And frankly, who cares if you’re the only airy-fairy, wishful thinking dimwit who ‘doesn’t understand the realities of life’, as long as you’re happy!
Choose attitudes, ideas, and people, that lift you up and make you believe that anything is possible. And of course, don’t forget pets!
Happiness is!
