What topics do you like to discuss?

I’m a public speaker. Give me any subject and I can talk about it off the cuff for as long as you like. Including Amazed Potatoes.
I’m also an Inspirational and Motivational Speaker, or as I prefer Insper-actional and Motiv-actional. In other words – if you hear something good then do something with it.
Motivational speaking tends to be planned, the kind of inspirational speaking I do isn’t. I rock up, I look at the audience, I know where to start. Someone catches my eye, I tune in to what they need me to say, and I say that. It’s kind of in the air around them.
The first time I did it I thought I was losing my mind, but it worked, and it keeps working. A story builds over that time, and people always come up add say “It’s as if you were talking directly to me.”
It’s an alarming thing to do at first, but it’s also delivering to an audience what they need rather than what you think they need. Obviously you won’t reach everyone, but who knows who they will meet that does need to hear it. You don’t go to inspirational events just for yourself.
I used to be dissed for being a chatterbox, now I know why. I need that skill.
No trash talk
I will discuss any positive subject happily. What I will not do is bring 21st Century negativity into any room. One good example would be so called mental health. As an advocate for healing your mind I am singularly unimpressed by the useless way they’re going about it.
Big mental health crisis in the UK. Get people talking about mental health. Focusing on it. This reducing their ability to cope. We have more people off work through mental heath issues than ever before. They can’t cope with everyday life. We need coping skills. We need Stoicism.
Personally I don’t blame them though, I also understand; 22 years of acute anxiety undiagnosed, a further 22 to beat it. I couldn’t cope but because in my youth an exhausted upset mind wasn’t an illness, you kept going.
Personally I’m glad of that. The personally indicates I don’t judge others by my experiences.
That’s just one example of this that will have me suddenly remembering I left a tap on and exiting in a hurry.
What? If I’m not wearing my hearing aids I can do that. I flooded the garage!
To answer the question
Politics – easy as I’m neutral but I also recognise that it rules my life and shouldn’t be ignored.
Spirituality – all kinds. So important.
Travel – I love travelling and hearing about the experiences of others.
Philosophy – and thinking in general.
Jokes – the more the better. One member of my ‘very serious’ 🤣 spiritual groups decided they were an Apricot a few weeks ago. That set us all off. I was aching from laughter when we finished.
Kindness and respect – probably best not to get me started and definitely don’t tell me that kindness is a weakness!
Kids; houses; decor; films; music; dance; folklore; history; languages; chocolate; the latest developments in cake; butterflies; bees; weather (I’m British and our weather is interesting); royalty; sport; trees; Anton du Beke; Barry Manilow; pets. Cats, always cats, but don’t think I could walk past a stray dog, guinea pig, pet rat. I couldn’t.
Mainly I like being with people who think deeply and hearing what they have to say. I like learning.
