Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.
I was on a tour of Italy. One coach trip was to Pompeii. A lady I’d never met before got on the coach. I spent the entire day with her, we were inseparable. I left my ex and his parents to it, the moment was too important to miss.
I knew that at the end of the tour we wouldn’t keep in touch, and that was okay. We just knew each other somehow and that wouldn’t change.
When she got off the bus we smiled and waved. Mum-in-law asked if we’d swapped numbers. I said no. It really wasn’t necessary.
That was in 1987. I never saw her again. But I can still see her in her floppy white sun hat with shoulder length light brown, wavy hair. I still think of her from time to time.
Nothing outstanding happened, but it’s a day and she’s a person I’ve never forgotten.
