‘Friends’

What makes you laugh?

I enjoy a good comedy, but my go to show for sheer brilliance is Friends.

At one time my husband refused to watch it, but when Matthew Perry sadly died I decided to cheer myself up by doing another run through of Friends.

I was genuinely sad at the loss of a brilliant comic actor who fought so hard and helped others even though he couldn’t help himself.

Tony is a convert. He can see what an incredible ensemble team they were, auntie the genius of the writing, but when he keeps commenting on what great actors they are I want to scream “Do you think I’d watch 10 complete seasons of rubbish four times through?”

I am a writer. I do appreciate good writing and the actors who can embody that. Although you don’t have to be a writer to do the same, eyes and ears are all you need.

Apart from that

I can laugh at the absurdity of life, although it is becoming a little too absurd to put it mildly. I laugh when I’m with Katrina, my saving grace.

Mostly I laugh at the antics of the cats. What I’d do without them I don’t know.

Originally though I laughed at my dad. Hands down the most talented, funny man you’ve never heard of. I honestly believe he could have given Eric Morecambe a run for his money.

I miss that. I miss him. I need him right now. But he’s there, inside me, part of me, and being his daughter will also, always be my saving grace.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
