Not Hot

What is your favorite type of weather?

I love the sun as much as the next person, but humid heat drains my energy. I went to Italy in the early 1990s and it was a dry heat, that was much better. Still tiring, but it’s perspiring that I can’t stand.

I’m also lucky in that cold, wet, stormy weather doesn’t bother me. Having permission from the weather gods to stay indoors snuggled up with a hot drink and a good book, nothing like it.

Spring is, of course, gorgeous. By far my favourite time of year.

Surviving weather

The best advice I ever read, when it comes to the weather is the Native American way:

In the Spring you sow the seeds for the coming year.

In the summer you tend the strongest shoots.

In the autumn you reap the harvest.

In the winter you rest, recuperate, and reflect.

Better to live with the weather, to accept the winter as a time of rest rather than sunlight deficiency, depression, time. I think we have more SAD because life is so unnatural now.

Try to find a way to enjoy each season if you can. I struggle in the heat, but hot is just not my favourite weather, I still enjoy aspects of it.

P.S. On the 21st December (in the northern hemisphere, June in the southern) the days start getting longer. Yet most people think of that time of year as deepest, darkest, winter. it actually isn’t. Just a thought that might help. 💖

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
