If you’re not from the UK, the Princess of Wales edited a photograph of her family before posting it on Mother’s Day. The furore is inexplicable!
The photo was removed. Declared fake. Yet it was her with her family. The problem was that other Royals are not an open as the King. Although he hasn’t released the exact details of his illness he immediately released enough so that we understand why he’s not out there working. It went down well. He is allowed some privacy.
The rest of the Royals won’t answer questions. The Princess Royal blanked queries about her brother’s health, it looked rude. The Queen answers the questions in a way that respects his privacy but reflects the genuine interest of a portion of the public.
Had Kate just published the original, that may have been that. Unless there was no original, which kicks off theories about her health. Amongst the right minded those concerns are genuine. Not Royalists, humans who care.
However, this noise actually reveals the depth to which technology is undermining our society. We can’t trust anything anymore.
There are videos of actual people using their actual voices, and words they have actually said. All digitally alerted to give the wrong impression and cause havoc.
The camera can lie, computers lie, technology lies, people lie on social media and aren’t questioned, looks are enhanced to the point you wouldn’t recognise the person in the street, and the numbers of distrustful people are growing exponentially.
We will lose our optimism and belief in a better world if we’re not careful, but holding the line is becoming harder and harder.
Unless
We go back to using technology as a tool, leave our limit social media, and create real personal relationships again. Then there will be at least some truth.
Body language is truthful. The eyes are the windows to the soul. We’re all intuitive enough to be able to make a good stab at trust if we’re in the same room, we get a feeling that you won’t get on line. When you know a person you see their actions and whether they match their words.
It’s the only way to have a reasonable idea what’s going on.
