Self Determination

Do you believe in fate/destiny?

Oddly, as a spiritual thinker, I’ve always been neutral on this subject.

It was definitely odd that I met my husband. He was born on the other side of the world, yet had a strong pull to come to England even though he’s half Scots. A tartan outrage of ever there was one. In fairness he is also half English but that is five generations ago.

Of all the places he could have landed up, he chose Croydon in south London, 20 minutes from where I lived in Bromley. However, I never went to Croydon. The two towns had similar facilities, poor transport links, and busy roads, so there was no point in driving to the other town, you gained nothing.

By a weird set of circumstances I started going to Croydon, and met my husband in another place I never went – a nightclub.

So yes that has a destiny/fate feeling.

Free will

For me though the free will clause is the most important. Even though Tony and I met, I could just as easily have said no to going to Croydon. Would we have met another way? Possibly. I honestly don’t know. We could have split up.

No matter what fate or destiny dictates we have the choice to follow that thread in life. If we choose not to there are other threads. Self determination is part of free will.

I guess I’m saying that whilst fate and destiny might play a hand, it’s the handling of it that dictates the next step and those that come after.

So the answer is yes, no, or partly.

🤣🤣🤣

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
