Prejudice is Stupid

Up on the shelf – just got caught!

I’m not a prejudiced person. Your skin colour will never determine whether or not I like you. I’m not that stupid. I seriously can’t believe looking at skin colour and making a decision.

Although in fairness colour is key for a car, but I don’t hate the car because I don’t like its colour. I’ll buy the same model in a colour I like.

So I guess that suggests that if you’re a kind model of human we will get along fine. Kindness, or the absence thereof, is my only deal breaker.

How many reasons?

The cats versus dogs argument is amongst the most stupid reason to hate that I can possibly think of. Why do humans have to polarise over two innocent species that just got born and that’s what they were?

People will tell you all kinds of stories. Cats are unaffectionate. Garbage. We’ve had 12 in all and they know how to love and show love.

Marcus, above, likes about two cuddles a day from both of us. If one of us is missing we know they will be in one of his official cuddling spots. The dining room or bathroom.

Nero

Nero would be carried around all day, everyday. He holds onto my arm and tries to help me open doors. If one of us is holding him and the other comes in he reaches out with his front paws, and pulls the other one in.

Not Amie’s wine – she steals my water

Amie had the most adorable purr. As a kitten we cuddled her for hours every evening, Passing her across as a dozy parcel, then having her back later if we had to move. She became more independent as she got older, but regular grooming is her thing now, accompanied by kisses and occasionally nose nipping. She once kissed my hand 743 times.

Hito was Feral

He was quite different. He didn’t know what love and affection was and would fight his corner if you picked him up! It petrified him.

We proceeded with caution, gave him his space, loved him anyway. Slowly but surely he came around and is now more than likely to be found on a lap or across a keyboard soaking up the love vibe.

Animals don’t deserve judgement

Breeders crossed two fighting dogs to create the XL bully after Pitbulls were banned. That’s no fault of the dogs. As usual it’s us.

Dogs, like cats, respond to the humans they’re with. In the case of dogs it will also depend on their training.

Some cats are loners, like some humans, but if you allow time and don’t try to bend them to your will, you’ll bond. The first cuddle from a previously frightened animal is a magical moment you’ll never forget.

Stupidity

The number of ways we humans judge is a great weakness of our race, and we judge on sight.

Often by skin colour. Just why? You’ve begged for ‘the one’ to turn up in your life. So what if they look different if they will love you forever and step in front of a gun for you?

Multi-racial children are amongst the prettiest in the world.

I love dogs, we were both raised with them, neither cats nor dogs are better, like humans, they’re just different. I can’t stand rats but if a tame one turned up in trouble we would help it. We wouldn’t give it to the cats, no way. That’s cruel. Birds in our garden get a funeral and apologies to God. So do butterflies.

Because it matters. They matter.

My pet hate

Unkindness.

My pet cause

Peace, love, respect, kindness, listening, learning, understanding, tolerance, humanity, acceptance, fairness.

In other words anything good.

Let’s just stop finding reasons to hate. Our even dislike. Let’s just stop the all (whatever) are (whatever). Or white/black good, not white/black not good. Men good, women not good. Heterosexual good, everything else not good.

Cats, dogs, English, Scots, Welsh, Irish, French, and on and on and on and on.

Let’s

Just

Stop.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
