How UK People Think

I’m fed up with going on social media and hearing in the news that UK people think this, that, and the other. That we’re pro this war, anti that side, think we rule the world, are proud of the past, and on and on! It’s all junk.

Perspective

There are over 66 million of us. We are wildly multicultural. It’s not possible to say what a British person is anymore, as so many people of different cultures were born here. So we are not a white Christian country. We’re a melting pot of amazing cultures mainly living together in harmony.

Yes we have too many nasty elements. But if you boil it down we just want our kids to be safe, happy, and healthy. I think you’ll find the entire world has a lot in common.

We’re not anti anyone, we’re pro peace and anti war. Bear in mind I’m talking about the people here, not politicians. Many of us do not support our government’s stance on the Middle East. We want peace now, the hostages returned, and help for the people of Gaza. As in right now.

We do not want anti-Semitism on our streets and many Jews are marching for the people of Gaza.

We’re not thinking about Palestine, Israel, Iran, Iraq, Russia, North Korea, and so on in a harmful or disrespectful way. We wish that you are all well, safe, and happy. We are thinking about Ukraine and other peoples in trouble.

I’m sure that many people all over the world will resonate with this. As in:

Why would I hate the (insert race) when I’m struggling to feed my kids, little (insert child’s name) isn’t well, my mum is at the end of her life, and I miss my dad so much I can’t sleep, my (insert pet) isn’t getting any younger, and I can’t feed my family?

Why would we want anyone harmed? Why would we even be thinking about it?

Facts

We’re not a coloniser anymore and we’re glad of it.

We’re not wealthy, even those who earn an amount of money that many people’s can’t begin to imagine are struggling.

My dad could have bought 7 houses for the price of our last car! Full time workers can’t afford food.

There is a level of violence on our streets that is unprecedented, it doesn’t feel like the UK anymore. Recently two school children calculatingly murdered a transgender girl for fun!

We can’t trust our police (with apologies to the decent officers out there). We can’t trust our services The NHS is overwhelmed. So if you’re coming here for a better life, be warned. It will probably be better, but not as great as we would like.

We don’t want to stop immigration, we need it, we want to stop the boats. Goodness knows how many people are dying having been charged a fortune to be placed on an unsafe rubber boat and sent into one in the most dangerous pieces of water in the world. And busiest. We object to that strongly.

We have significant issues around prejudice and violence towards the person of all kinds, including women. A certain element of white males are a complete and utter disgrace to our nation whilst claiming they’re what it means to be British. You’ll find a good few of them at football matches insulting geniuses because they don’t look like a bottle of milk.

You get the real picture? We’re way past being a power, totally disinterested in it because it was wrong, and honestly? I think many of us are fed up with the special relationship we have with America. It gets us into too many bad places and wrong things.

Our special relationship with Europe, us being Europeans and all, was much more positive and productive for all. Miss you guys.

We are, some of us, proud of the Commonwealth though, all those rainbow nations coming together to help and support. Total respect to all involved.

Right and wrong

Some UK people will think I’m completely wrong here, others will partly agree. What I’m trying to do is to own or own narrative on the world stage, to reach out with at least one version that is as close to the truth as I can see it.

Yes we sing old traditional songs, but in honesty some of those lyrics need changing. Especially as we’d already been slaves when one song was written. 🙄

We’re kind of proud of our history and also rightly embarrassed. We should not erase it though. It’s important to remember and be shocked.

We’ve done some good. We still are. We are a mainly humanitarian country. We are mainly a very decent rainbow people.

I’m sure many people all over the world can resonate with this. Living in such uncertain times because of alleged thoughts that have never crossed our minds. Wondering when hell will break loose, coming from a nation that is just part of the wonderful uniqueness and rich culture of this planet. A nation whose peoples mainly don’t want any of this. We don’t.

If you are, speak out, let us know who you are. We the people really need to talk.

Wishing you peace, happiness, and enough for all your needs. Hug your children from me and tell them that a lady in England really and truly wants them to be safe.
