Mind Games

The mind is a fluid object. Constantly being updated but not necessarily upgraded. The pile who really maintain control of their mind meditate everyday.

Just as we exercise the body we need techniques to keep the mind healthy. Happiness will help. Good decisions will help. Being in your truth and acting on it will help. But the mind needs to rest.

Yes you can do that with a book, TV, a film, music, etc. But just as the body needs rest, the mind should have time where it’s allowed to do nothing. Sleep doesn’t necessarily rest the mind, especially if you’re a bad dreamer.

If you think you can’t meditate try this. Find a piece of orchestral music that you love and listen to it. Preferably through ear buds or headphones to isolate yourself in the music. Let your eyes close and really focus, pick out the different instruments, listen as you’ve never listened before.

That’s it, just stop when you’ve had enough. Don’t try to meditate, calm the mind, stop the noise. Just focus on that music. Music also improves the mood and raises the vibes.

That’s it, a simple way to fool the mind into meditation whilst telling yourself you’re only listening to music.

It takes all the struggling to relax out of meditation and allows you to master it at your own pace. If you just can’t relax so what? You’re only listening to music.

Sometimes you have to play games with the mind so that you don’t tense it up thinking it has to relax immediately when it’s never been allowed to before. A bit sneaky but well worth it.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
