I Don’t Live in a City

What is your favorite place to go in your city?

This is my city

I’m a Londoner who never wanted to leave London. I was born 10 minutes south of Greenwich. I love history. It was the perfect English city for me.

No disrespect to the others, I love the buzz of Liverpool and Manchester, York is gorgeous, Lincoln is amazing, easier to say that I love the old cities. But London is my home.

I realised this on what should have been one of the saddest days of my life, my mother’s funeral. It was held at the same crematorium that was her father’s resting place. She too wanted to go home, and that day she brought me home with her. Her final gift – a sense of belonging. Knowing why I never settle. I can be very happy in different places, but not home.

Where do you feel energised?

Friends tell me that I sashay when I walk in London. I feel energised there, there’s a buzz below the streets that I feel through my body. Once we moved to Beckham in Kent, 30 minutes from the city, I was always a fish out of water. I never belonged there, or Bromley.

My favourite place to go is around the central part of London, the historic areas, Buckingham Palace, rather than the massive urban sprawl that is Greater London. I particularly love Greenwich. The Cutty Sark, the park, the Observatory, the markets, the old shops.

I once stood on the hill in Greenwich Park and saw the Space Shuttle flying below me on the back of a Jumbo Jet, following the River Thames. That sums up London to me. Fascinating and amazing. And home.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx

      1. I see London as the place to be. With fresh milk each morning. Fresh bread, etc.
I am in Nígeria now. A full time pastor-evangelist. You know what ma? The LORD took me to Hell Fire for an excursion. And since then HE has taken the ministry to a higher level.
If you would, I will detail the vivid experience to you in reply to your response to this post.
