When you think of the word “successful,” who’s the first person that comes to mind and why?
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

What is success?
The first person that came to mind was the late Steve Jobs, of Apple computing fame. But why?
Did having money make him successful? Did designing something groundbreaking make him successful? Creating a massive company; is that success?
The thing I think of the most was how inspiring he was. An amazing speaker who shared a great deal of wisdom, he will be remembered for a long time to come. As will Apple.
Words
That’s been one of my mantras – focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.

To me mindset equals success. The way you think is how you approach life. How you live your life. It dictates the outcome of your life.
The words you use are an external indicator of that mindset. Steve Job’s words show that he had a success mindset, and inspirational creative mind, and the words he left behind will build success for many other people.
Was he a success because of his money? Apple and innovation? Creativity. Vision. All of the above and more? Or was he a success because his mind worked in the right way? Or something else? You decide.
For me that’s the key. So yes, he came to mind immediately as an all round success, and someone who continues to generate more success, because he left plenty of good advice for us to follow. Money and fame were by products.
We’re just enthusiastic about what we do.

It’s what important to you, what calls to your heart, that matters. You’ll only feel successful if you love what you do.
