I have learned that love
IS
No matter how much anger and hatred there is
No matter how many wars we have
Or how many arguments bounce off unresponsive walls
You don’t have to believe in love
Because it doesn’t exist in relation to your beliefs
It doesn’t need your romanticism
Or emotional searching
To make it manifest
It doesn’t depend on kindness
Courtesy
Or honesty
Or integrity
No noble thoughts give birth to love
No artistic endeavour creates it
It does not depend on us for its existence
You can’t kill it through lack of belief
It existed before you
And will continue after you
Perfect
Whole
Complete
It does not recognise cynicism or bitterness
Fashion or money or fame
It does not care about these things
Love exists in everything
Failed romances are not the death of love
You can love a tree or flower
A bird or animal
Love doesn’t recognise form
Weigh beauty
Dictate attraction
Care about race
Or judge by number of legs
Love makes anything and everything beautiful
And that love will be returned to you a thousand-fold
If you find beauty always
Every time your breath is taken away by beauty
You have collected more love to give
Don’t be too narrow to know love
Too small to encompass love
Too cynical or ‘worldly-wise’
That will dim the light in your soul
And your life
Just accept that love
IS
If you don’t it changes nothing
If you do
It changes everything

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities.
