Listen

There is a love that flows through the universe

Just waiting for you to listen

Waiting for you to stop

And hear

It is infinite and infinitesimal

It can flow through you

And around you

If you pay attention

It is not a thing of belief

Or logic

It is a thing of mountains

Rivers

Trees

Rainbows

All the natural things

Your human beliefs cannot change it

It is the very essence of all that is

And ever will be

It knows no other way to be

Nor would it change to fit your ideas

It transcends human thought

And human love

A thing too puny and ineffectual to bear the same name

The two loves are nothing alike

There is no language

No metaphor or simile

To begin to frame this love with words

In any language

You can’t see it of course

You can’t hear it

You can’t feel it?

That’s a tragedy of gigantic proportions

To not feel that love

Is the reason for all conflict

All lies

All cheating

All crime

To feel it is the answer to all your prayers

It is the universal healer

That only wants the best for all living beings

All living things

It understands nothing else

Nor would it be interested

It has no other purpose

And sees no point to any other purpose

But the purity and possibility

Of eternal love

It is the power that drives the universe

The only power

The source of all that is

Love is

And your belief in it

Is unimportant

Your lack of belief cannot change it

But your belief will change the world
