What does it mean to be a good person?

It’s a very simple answer. It means everything to be a good person, but good people are up against it.
At university many years ago a tutor showed us how one person takes control of a large group.
They take a gun to a meeting and shoot someone. Then they turn to the person next to them and say how much they’ve always liked them. So are you on my side. Of course the person says yes. They give that person a gun and say “shoot one of the others”. The person is too scared not to. Now that first person controls the room.
Then they ask “How many of you are with me?” Out of terror most if not all will say yes. They give them all guns and send them out to shoot someone to prove their loyalty.
Some will run, others will die, but a lot will join the cause to save their lives!
He said he could take over or campus inside an hour that way. Sounds too simple? Hitler and his cronies were all it took to start WWII. Bit of rhetoric and some guns.
Even though the vast majority of humans are good people, what scares me is:
How few people it takes to destabilise the world!
But how do the many overcome those with power, money, and weapons? Especially in countries where democracy only applies if you do as you’re told.
The millions who don’t want others to die are powerless, and that is all kinds of wrong.

Some people can’t say no because their job lies with it. If they didn’t say yes, they fired or threatened. So bad.

Exactly. Those with the power exist in all walks of life. If you don’t do what I want then I’ll leave you and you will be alone. It’s all power play.
