The Mind is Everything

How does your mindset affect your financial success?

Mindset affects your life, and its impact is wide ranging. When it comes to finances, the mindset called ‘lack of confidence and self worth’ coupled with ‘not tolerating rude people’, affected a promising writing career, and the outcome of my first degree.

Confidence and self worth

This should have been me

I was always wrong, constantly criticised, rarely supported or reinforced.

My parents wanted to bring up the perfect child, that was never going to happen, but as a result everything I did however small became a big thing.

The result was when people told me I was wrong or not good enough, it never occurred to me to question them and their motives, I obediently slunk off never to be seen again. Sheer self preservation.

I kept trying and it kept happening and I kept blaming me.

Zero tolerance

This should have been me too!

As I got older I realised that although I felt that I was quitting, running away, that wasn’t the case. Obviously I felt a sense of failure when I gave up, but the truth I learned was that I will not work with unkind, spiteful, or discourteous people.

All the time I was feeling weak, I was actually embodying my personal beliefs and standards, I was being them not preaching them.

All this of course reduced my financial success rate to nearly zero.

So you can say my poor life training, lack of support, and what is now a recognition that very few people are truly team players, Coupled with the understanding that I should not allow others to affect my mental health at all, financially impoverished me, and considerably enhanced my life at the same time.

I learned excellent life lessons:

  • Think before you blame yourself. Could you speak to or treat someone like that? If no, that’s all you need to know.
  • If teams don’t work find better people or go it alone. That’s what I do now.
  • If anyone undermines you regularly, walk away. Don’t go out in a blaze of anger, that will only upset you. Just go.
  • All the time I thought I was wrong, I was right for me.

In 1994 I walked away from my family and found myself, no one is more sacred than your sanity and well being. No one.

Best love

Not quite me, but now I would wear that. I might have pulled him faster, it took a whole five minutes. Thirty-five years later…

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
