What’s the best local dish you’ve ever eaten while traveling?
I have traveled. I’m not a foodie. Pizza and pasta in Italy were disappointing, but that was only two places.
American food lived up to expectations in some places and not others.
French food was not as expected, but I didn’t eat in many places.
The much anticipated Swiss fondue was just bread with a cheese sauce, very nice but!
Hype and the criticism of British food as being substandard are wildly over done. It’s not fair to raise expectations only to discover pretty normal. But then I can’t afford the restaurants that would blow my socks off.
The best two were the most amazing salad in Florida, and a humongous chocolate eclair in Jersey.
However, I eat to live but I travel to really live!
So who really cares? I’ve been to incredible places and seen amazing things. Met wonderful people. These memories are tucked away still bringing joy whenever I access them.
What more do I need? Give me a biscuit or two and set me free to roam!
I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx

All countries tend to overestimate their culinary prowess and declare that theirs is the best. But it’s not just about the food, it’s the ingredients, the preparation, the anticipation, the company, the occasion. Eating biscuits does free up a great deal of time, but, whether at home or abroad, there’s more to food than pure sustenance! Obviously, if you’re French, like me, you will know that biensûr, French food is the best. Except for the escargots. There’s no need for those!

That snail comment is epic! I don’t think the UK does, we’re not really a food nation unless you count fish and chips, nice but not gourmet.
