Seeking New Pastures

Which book have you read more than any other?

Doesn’t show the books very well on a small screen

I have read Pride and Prejudice more than once, apart from that I can’t think of anything. But then I am 69 and I’ve been hiding in my bedroom reading since I was a young child.

The more things changed the more they stayed the same. I don’t mind, books are a quiet friend that doesn’t criticise.

I have favourite authors but apart from P&P, no particular favourite book. I guess like many people I dream of that strong connection, despite themselves, between Darcy and Elizabeth. However, I’ve got enough experience to visualise them throwing things at each other every so often. Romance sells us a false narrative.

I tend to move on with new books, not explore the same highways and byways. I tried to do that in my life too, change things up, got two degrees to get a better career and have more choices. Wrote plays. But life always sent me back into my safe space with a book. You cannot complain about that 🤣, bliss.

I guess that through new books I’ve been able to do what I couldn’t do with my life, find the perfect moment in someone else’s words. Authors seek to do that, the blogs on here are very helpful in any number of ways.

Writers are escapism, ideas, inspiration, and encouragement. You only need to look at the number of self help books, novels with excellent points and inspiration, poems, plays, films and TV series’, to know that out there are thousands of humans seeking to help, amuse, advise, encourage, and bring hope.

Keep writing, keep reading, keep sharing the new and exciting. Especially the reading, where else can you fall in love a thousand times and emerge unscathed? 🤣

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
