A Retired Question

What is your career plan?

Retired from the career I never had

Calling

I’m all about the calling. I think all creatives are, to a greater extent.

Of course the creativity isn’t just about creating, it’s about the way you think and the way you feel your life.

Many people walk through this world oblivious to the way they’re feeling and why. Who has time for feelings when the treadmill is permanently on? Leading you from sleep to preparation for the day, to work, to lunch, to not work, to home, to housework, to cooking, to a short period collapsed in front of the TV, to bed, then repeat.

Add in insanely busy weekends getting the house up together, and you have an exhausting template for the lives of too many, in societies driven by money to survive.

I was never really a part of that and stepped away from it in my 30s. I had to work but my life started when I got home. Then I felt alive.

Worshipping the wrong god

The wrong god is the norm. Unless you have creative thinkers as parents you’re likely to go to school at five and escape the machine at 70.

Just as some are encouraged to believe in one of the one gods, we are encouraged to think about just getting a job. If you go to university it will cost you thousands, and unless you really specialise, you’ll probably end up somewhere quite ordinary.

The answer to which is…

Creative thinking.

  • What do you care about? Work in that field and you’ll always have a good reason to be doing what you do.
  • Are you creative? Can you get a day job and work with your creativity evenings and weekends, create a business, and do what you love.
  • Are, you purpose driven? If you are then find work that has a strong cause that you can support.
  • Don’t limit yourself. If you want to do something just try it. Don’t make it complicated.
  • Admitting you’re wrong just corrects a mistake. Don’t stay put to save face.
  • Listen to others but make your own decisions.
  • If your parents lived safe lives, especially if they felt persecuted and held back by others, beware of acting on their advice. Listen but be careful.
  • Most importantly, don’t let the world into your thinking. The rich aren’t out to get you, they don’t know you exist. The only person who can hold you back is you.

You are the only power in your life

Fact!

Don’t give up on your dreams.

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
