Yes

Do you vote in political elections?

I just don’t expect them to fix anything.

While the world burns

You probably think this is going to be a diatribe about how awful politicians are, but that’s been done to death in every possible way, since Roman times.

The real reasons they can’t solve problems – us

Consider this list of problems they should not have to solve:

  • If the public didn’t commit crimes then there would be no need for policing, courts, or prisons.
  • If everyone that can work did. If everyone saw work as a contribution to the collective whole, benefits would be plenty for those in genuine need.
  • If you created a child or children and looked after them no matter whether the relationship survived, there would only be a need for support where a parent has sadly passed way.
  • If there was no shoplifting prices would be lower.
  • If there was no drug taking a huge burden comes off crime solving and medical time, which should be spent on those unwell or injured.
  • If we as a race were just kinder and more respectful to each other, we could quickly eradicate a great deal of the stress and anxiety in our societies.
  • If companies played fair with the public they serve, then many, many more people would be better off. Thus reducing the need for benefits. But, for example, while oil companies post record profits at a time of war, that’s never going to happen. When they use those profits to keep prices down in times of crisis the world will be a fairer place.
  • Corporate crime is an iceberg and how can politicians create a fair society when those companies hold them hostage?

I could go on. But it seems clear to me that politicians are fenced in all round by problems that interest groups don’t want them to solve. From the dole layabouts to the needs of the billionnaires, if politicians make a real decision it’s going to cost them.

The only way to stay in power is to shut up, upset no one, and do what you can.

Tough and unsympathetic?

All those things listed above are choices the public make.

I have had friends who have become addicted to alcohol and drugs, and it’s just awful, but no one knows they have the addictive gene until they find out the hard way. Even so, if we make those choices we put pressure on our societies. Fact.

Business owners can decide that they have enough money, they don’t have to keep adding to their egos…I mean bank accounts.

Parents can pay for their child’s upkeep, and stay in their lives.

No I’m not unsympathetic, life is hard at times, unfair, exhausting. But politicians can’t put things right until we clean up our act.

Is it wrong of me to believe that there needs to be an upgrade in man’s humanity to man? That we need to treat each other as equals? That we don’t lie, cheat, steal, rape, abuse, maim or murder?

That we should work hard and contribute, think about our actions, and take responsibility?

I don’t know, but I don’t think those ideas are wrong.

So I will vote, but this is why I won’t expect them to do anything but firefight. Politics is a trap, a strangulation point between interest groups, hell on earth.

We all need to create a situation where everyone can thrive.

Best love

Politicians can’t do it for us

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
