If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?
I thought I didnât have an answer, then realised that I could see myself as Elizabeth Bennett but definitely not the quieter and more genteel Jane.
I have a strongly developed masculine side and I wouldnât weep into a handkerchief I would throttle you with it.
Upset my delicate feminine sensibilities and I will give you such a lecture that you will wish to God youâd never said a word apart from âlovely hatâ.
Thatâs because pushing someone down the stairs is wrong. Nor are you allowed to strangle them with their cravat!
The one thing I got right the second time I married was I fell in love with an equal, well almost, he is a man after all (kidding).
The first time he made me cry he asked âhave I upset you?â He was met with âyes you damned well have!â I told him exactly why in exquisite detail. I will never forget his reaction:
âThank god for that, my ex used to say she wasnât upset whilst sitting there crying and I couldnât deal with that! At last a woman who tells me straight!â We talked it out and we were fine, as we always do.
So yes Eliza Bennett because DâArcy is the kind of man I could deal with. Hopeless enough with women to be charming, yet respectful, and quietly strong. Reminds me of someone I know.
