Utter Misery

What would your life be like without music?

Music is love of life

I meditate to beautiful music, and I would be lost without meditation. For that alone music is indispensable to me.

I used to love to dance, haven’t danced for years, but it was something that kept me going as a teenager and young woman. Turn the music on when everyone else was out, and lose yourself in a different world.

There is other music

People strongly connected to nature get the same effect from the sound of wind in the trees, the rain bouncing off the leaves. Even rain bouncing off the windows. I find the sound of rain peaceful.

As long as you’re not afraid of thunder and lightning a summer storm is a thing of magnificence that stirs the emotions. I find it quite freeing listening to a storm. Its immense power reminds me how puny we trouble-making humans are.

From gently kissing the beach to hurling itself at land in a fury, the sound of the sea is a song in itself.

Just music

Whether it’s the wind, the waves, the trees, the storm, or a pair of ear pods stuck in the ears and your own world surrounded by uplifting sounds, music is life.

On a scientific level music puts out a vibration that heals and calms, that’s why specific types of music are used in meditation. Everything from beautiful orchestral, through nature sounds, to various different Hz. 111Hz is the vibration of the planet and listening to that music will ground you.

A friend tried it. She worked in a rather combative workplace and often found herself being dragged in to various disputes.

She started listening to this music and realised halfway through the next argument that she wasn’t at all bothered, she just smiled and didn’t become involved.

My loves

I’m mainly middle of the road: The Osmonds and Barry Manilow. I also love Mozart, The Planet Suites, and several other classical pieces.

I loved Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody is something you just have to stop and listen to. You can’t half listen to it.

Whatever floats your boat, do ensure you listen to music, especially if it uplifts you. I don’t mean in the car on the way to work either, I mean stopping and listening or listening and dancing.

We humans have a habit of becoming distracted by the busyness of life, and forgetting the things that keep us sane. If music helps you never put it second to anything. You can have a clean house, or relax for half an hour, then clean the house.

If you want to learn to meditate and have never been able to, just start by listening to music that you love, preferably orchestral, lyrics can distract you. If you’re into modern music and don’t know of any music that doesn’t have voice, try nature sounds if there’s one that you love.

All meditation is, is losing yourself for a while. Entering a different vibration. It takes practice and it’s very unlikely that outside a group you will find it easy to stop the mind. I couldn’t do it in a group, but I could do it when I learned the music trick.

So music

The food of love and the energy of life

Play on.

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx

    1. It really is Hazel, the vibrations going through the air clear the energy, and if you’re listening to music the vibrations go through your body and clear your energy, ease your stress. Lovely to hear from you, and as always praying that you and your family and pets are well and happy.
