Un-sporty Rules

What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

I’m not much into the Olympics. I was interested in the London Olympics because they were in the UK, but I enjoyed the spectacle of the opening more than the actual events.

I can get excited about some events but my interest really doesn’t have the staying power. Where I was seriously interested was when Torvill and Dean were doing the rounds of the Ice Dance competitions. I’m still a fan of theirs now and we’re seeing “One Last Dance” later this month.

I enjoyed watching bits of the Paris Olympics because, well, Paris. What more do you need?

I do support our teams when they’re doing well, or if I’m around and it comes on, but that’s it really.

What really surprised me last year was that I suddenly got into men’s football for the first time in 66 years. I became quite passionate about the England mens’ team, partly because they get such a hard time from their so-called fans.

You have fans and then more the s*it hits the fan type. Nothing their ‘favourite’ team can do is right. No player is or will ever be good enough. They bore me, support or don’t. You don’t have to make excuses for poor play but you don’t need to be nasty either.

I will admit that at several points I was screaming at the television “Must kick the ball and try to score a goal will you! Maybe Kane could score if you would just get the ball up to the other end!” It tickled me pink later when Kane came down past the halfway line and got the ball himself.

This, as you may imagine, was hugely amusing to a husband more used to me watching anything but football, but it sure beats watching a tap drip! I seek to entertain.

Love and fun

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
