Today’s writing prompt, or one three years ago depending on when you’re reading this, inspired me to think about the ways that we humans are so unaware of our impact. How we look at things only one way, when there is at least one more way they can be viewed. How our word comes from our beliefs that frame our thoughts and fill our mouths with things that are not as true and right as we may think.
The ways where we think we’re doing good, being loyal, fighting back, but in truth we’ve crossed to the dark side where D’arth Vader rules!
I thought I’d offer a list of divisive thought processes for you:
The list
- Nationality. It’s an accident of birth nothing more. It means nothing. It’s just our placement on a ball hurtling through space. Yet we kill over it, insult over it, and think we’re better because of it. Be grateful if you’re in a caring country, but believing it’s better undoes what could make it special. I’m not proud of my country, I see the good, but there’s not enough of it.
Try this idea: The Earth has areas of land and areas of water, it has no national barriers, just some natural ones. Natural barriers do not mean that side is mine this side is yours. It’s designed so that we can walk across the land and take a boat across the sea, and now an aeroplane. It belongs to the universe, not to us, and we own no part of it. One sword edge says we do, the other cuts straight through the crap and realises it’s one world and no one owns it. - Race. We are the human race. We are only divided by arbitrary, non-existent lines on maps, or natural boundaries. We’re human and our race is Earthling. If you believe otherwise say hi to D’arth for me.
How about we stop living by these silly rules and accept each other as humans. Sharp edge one, different descriptions create difference to either envy or be afraid of. Sharp edge two, nationality is only a location marker, not the reason life is the way it is, or something special, that’s the work of and misconception of, humans. - Colour. Is gift wrap. Inside anyone could be the person who will save you life, your true best friend forever, the love of your life. Someone who will treat your daughter like a princess and your son like a prince. Don’t let sun bloc blind you to beauty and reality. If you fight back by insulting people of other colours though, there will be no sun bloc needed on your next holiday because you’ve wandered across the divide where the sun don’t shine and you won’t like the company. I understand that D’arth doesn’t have the sweetest breath, or attitude!
To dismiss a human because their skin is designed to protect them from a different strength of sun is incompressible, yet sadly it makes sense to far too many people. If you understand that, please spread the word, we need more realistic voices in this world. You thought I was going to say kind didn’t you? What I’ve said about sun protection is real. Sharp edge one, it’s cold/hot where I live which makes me better. Sharp edge two, that might be the love of your life. - Gender. As long as you’re having a relationship with someone compatible gender-wise, this is a non-subject. Again, it may be a person of another gender who jumps into a raging torrent to pull you out. Love is love. People of all genders become close friends. The main point of the two different body shapes is that we can supply the ingredients for the babies that are going to keep you up all night. It’s wonderful that we can do that for each other and two dads desperate to be dads and mums desperate to be mums can now have that experience. It’s about coming together as one race, and respecting that genes dictate how a body is going to present and that’s that!
If you believe it’s a choice you’ve beamed onto the Devastator and you needed the Enterprise. There is scientific evidence that it is not a choice. There are at least 16 different genders, on a sliding scale, you have extremely masculine and feminine at each end, and humans can be born anywhere on that sliding scale. As a woman by appearance I do not feel like a female. I don’t feel like anything except me. Sharp edge one, it’s right to be heterosexual. Sharp edge two, God, creation, genes, do not agree. Fact! - Politics: Okay one or other of the main parties are going to save you, make everything right, give you the life you want. Hands up any democracy for whom that’s working? The Labour government have just coming in, in the UK, as the saviours from the bad Conservatives and their shenanigans. They now claim they had no idea how bad things were, we did. Which means they’re completely out of touch with reality. The only party leader who may be in touch is Ed Davey, because he’s a carer and right there in the thick of it when it comes to one form of reality.
Here’s the truth, they say what they say to get into power, they start planning to hold onto that power on day one. As far as I can see none of them actually run a country, make decisions, solve problems, because they’re too busy trying to please their voters, and con others into believing them, rather than doing what’s right, what needs doing. The double edge of this sword is that we play the game. It’s not all about them, it’s all about them and us so we need to stop blaming them, we’re two sides of the same coin.
Now what?
Acceptance is key. Believing in differences means you’re the problem not the solution. For centuries we have fought and murdered over these things, things that mean nothing. If your religion preaches one god or one heaven, guess where we’re all going to land up?
If like me you’re a spiritual thinker, then we’re all one melting pot of equals and that’s all there is to it, with only one place for our souls to land up.
There are only two emotions, love and fear, and everything comes from them. Choose love, fear leads to all the negative emotions that stress you, make you angry, and make you ill. There’s a good case for love:
Ending this stupidity for successive generations, being safe, and feeling good.
What’s not to love?
