Have you ever performed on stage or given a speech?

From Amateur dramatics to Toastmasters via Inspirational Speaking, which took the form of standing on a stage not really knowing what I was going to say, and keeping an audience engaged for however long.

I think being a natural comedian helped, but I have no idea why I can work in that way. It just is.

When people tell you that it’s as if you were talking directly to them, that they feel that they can move forward now. When you see colour come back into faces and smiles appear, you just thank God and hope it’s the start of something good for them.

I didn’t enjoy acting, I’ve never needed to be someone else. I don’t need a mask. If you meet me you meet the only me there is, warts and all, faults and all. I’m human, pretending I’m perfect is pointless.

I was going to go on, but the question is answered, and I think that simple sentence at the end of the last paragraph is almost perfect. So to tweak…

Here’s a thought

Never let anyone make you feel that you can’t make a mistake, because they have and will again. You could say that in asking for perfection they just made a mistake.

Impossible standards can’t be reached.

We’re human, pretending to be perfect is pointless.

Yep, simple and perfect. Just pretend I’m on a stage. 🤣

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
