Not a great fan but

What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

I like ice Skating, skiing can be thrilling. Curling is oddly fascinating and I think harder and far more skilful than it looks.

When it comes to the summer Olympics I enjoy watching most of it occasionally, I quite like all the sports.

I heard a funny story the other week from a man fortunate enough to see a display of Zulu dancing His comment was that they wouldn’t need a pole for the pole vault. That I’d like to see.

However, my favourite memory of the Olympics is and always will be the James Bond sketch from the opening of the Summer Olympics in London in 2012.

It would be hard to explain quite how much our late Queen surprised and delighted her people around the world, by appearing to parachute in. Even her family didn’t know she was doing that.

It was wonderful that at last she freed her fun side, her legendary sense of humour.

Mind you, the Paddington Bear sketch from the Platinum Jubilee beat it hands down.

Throughout the Queen’s reign the one unanswered question was “What does she keep in the handbag that never opens?” Finally we knew – a Marmalade sandwich. The entire sketch was sheer genius.

A lasting memory of a great human being who truly understood the meaning of service before self.

She finished her last dispatch box the day she died. She never stopped working. She promised us that her entire life would be spent in our service and kept her word to the actual end.

Forget the title, the position, the crown, the estates. What if every politician were like that?

Death before dishonour?

P.S. In my youth handbags at 40 paces could have been an Olympic sport. It was alleged that there had been several battles between ladies of a certain age, where over the arm handbags with their hard metal frames, had been skilfully employed. I never personally witnessed it, but it was something of an urban legend. 😱🤣

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
