Yes

Have you ever performed on stage or given a speech?

I started in amateur dramatics but I didn’t really like acting. Then I became Chairperson of the group and found it surprisingly easy to stand on a stage and talk to an audience, unscripted.

From there I moved into inspirational speaking. Not the kind where you plan a speech to be inspiring, the kind where you walk onto a stage, tune in to the audience, and respond to what you’re sensing.

I sold books to over half the attendees doing it that way, including the oldest and youngest in the audience, and the only man present. Those are big wins that I was grateful for. Just to help people…I have no words to explain that feeling.

Toastmasters International

I joined this public speaking and leadership group a few years ago and loved it. They had a fantastic programme that took you through the 10 elements of public speaking. I learned so much.

Then I did an expensive course with another private company, and for over a thousand pounds I learned one thing that Toastmasters hadn’t taught me for far less.

The Toastmasters programme is different now, but that’s where you will get a lot for your money. They also have highest standards of inclusion and respect. To my mind they’re the organisation that can change this world. They are world peace.

Success

The most successful I’ve ever been is with the true inspirational speaking. I look around the audience, someone shines out at me, I pick the subject that comes to mind, chat a bit and move on. At the end, thanks to the support of spirit, there has been a theme that holds together.

My husband pointed out that when I did mediumship there was a theme to each evening.

This proves to me that we have more in common than we realise, and strangers are just friends you don’t know yet.

One of the most interesting, and kind things that was ever said to me was at a lovely spiritual centre in Taunton in Somerset UK. I turned up one evening and the Chair greeted me with a hug and said “I’m so glad it’s you tonight, if the messages dry up you can always chat to us and make the evening worthwhile. The medium last week just stopped and went home.”

I don’t blame that medium, that was the truthful and honest thing to do, and mediumship is not public speaking. They’re different abilities. Many mediums have both, but not all. To stop when you can’t link in is right and honourable.

I really appreciated those words though, because it goes back to ‘here to help’ and it turned out that I was very useful.

That’s me – here to help.

I’ve been hurt so much during my life that you’ll never find any judgement here. Just a genuine intention to support you, your way, to help you with grief, and to restore your self-confidence and belief. Maybe solve a few problems along the way. Or eradicate them.

You are why I write.

I also run on line Spiritual Empowerment Groups: Seeking the truth and solutions within. They’ve been going for over three years and they’re wonderful support groups.

You know where I am. Hiding in your phone or computer, waiting to make you smile.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
